Daniel Alan Freeman Sr. of Cahokia entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at his home and surrounded by his family. Daniel had attained the age of 51 years, 1 month and 28 days.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 18, 1961, he was the son of Richard Freeman Sr. and the late Patricia Freeman, nee Thrower.

Mr. Freeman  was a member of the Lutheran faith, and was a truck driver by profession..

Preceding him in death besides his mother, was a brother, Mark Freeman.

Left to mourn his passing beside his father are his children, Daniel Freeman Jr. of Millstadt, Illinois, Nathan Freeman, of Millstadt, Illinois, Christina Johnson, of Collinsville, Illinois, Andrew Freeman of Cahokia, Illinois, and Ava Freeman, of Cahokia, Illinois; two brothers, Richard (Linda) Freeman, of Cahokia, Illinois, and Bruce (Shannon) Freeman, of Dupo, Illinois,; a sister, Karrie (Fred) Rayfield, of Cahokia, Illinois; one grandchild, Ava Freeman, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorials are asked to be given to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.

A memorial service is planned for a later date.

John Patrick Dennis, Sr. of Sunset Hills, Missouri entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Brooking Park in Chesterfield, Missouri having attained the age of 63 years, 7 months and 23 days.
Born on November 12, 1948 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Francis and Mildred, nee Suliburk, Dennis.

Mr. Dennis touched many lives through his involvement in masonry, commercial and residential real estate and education.  He was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Sunset Hills, Missouri, the Chamber of Commerce and the Elks Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Michael Dennis.

Surviving are his children, Elizabeth A. (Scott) Adams of Manchester, Missouri and John P. (Dana) Dennis, Jr. of Albuquerque, New Mexico; his grandchildren, Keaton Adams, Kayla Adams, Cole Adams, Maxwell Dennis, Jackson Dennis and Ian Dennis; his loving partner, Jan; his cousins, extended family and many friends.

Friends may call on Friday, May 11, 2012 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church in Sunset Hills, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Marian Middle School, 4130 Wyoming, St. Louis, Missouri 63116.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the church with Father Jim Cormack officiating.  Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Lou Ann Margaret Toenjes of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Oak Hill Nursing Home in Waterloo, Illinois surrounded by her family.  She had attained the age of 78 years, 8 months and 20 days.

Born in Columbia, Illinois on August 11, 1933, she was the daughter of Edmund and Hilda, nee Schmidt, Herrmann.  She was united in marriage to Donald Toenjes on November 22, 1956 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, Illinois and to this union four sons were born.  He preceded her in death on May 31, 1995.

Mrs. Toenjes was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Illinois, St. James Choir, St. James Ladies Sodality and the Belleville Cursillo Society.

Preceding her in death besides her parents and her husband, Donald Toenjes, were two brothers, Earl Herrmann and Donald (Bonnie) Herrmann.

Left to mourn her passing are her sons, Larry (Dana) Toenjes of Millstadt, Illinois, Thomas (Theresa) Toenjes of Rolling Meadows, Illinois, Kenneth (Christine) Toenjes of Millstadt, Illinois and John (Paula) Toenjes of Fairview Heights, Illinois; her sister, Dorothy (Harold) Metter of Columbia, Illinois, her former sister-in-law, Geraldine Hough of Columbia, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, Stephen Toenjes, Jack Toenjes, Sean Toenjes, Megan Toenjes, Luke Toenjes, Paul Toenjes, Matthew Toenjes, Cameron Toenjes, Kyle Toenjes, Lindsey Toenjes and Josh Toenjes, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call on Thursday, May 3, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. to 9:45 A.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to St. James School Endowment Fund or Immaculate Conception Building Fund and will be received at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt, Illinois with Monsignor Marvin Volk officiating.  Interment will follow in St. James Cemetery.

Clifford Kyle Ponder of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at his home having reached the age of 55 years, 1 month and 25 days.

Born on March 6, 1957 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, he was the son of Clarence Leighton and Rita Anne, nee Rahe, Ponder.  He was united in marriage to Vicki McMurry in Sheridan, Arkansas on November 25, 1987 and she survives.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Vicki Ponder of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois; his children, Leslie Brooke (David) Ponder Doggett of White Hall, Arkansas, Jennifer Kay (Jeff) Ponder Jeffers of Benton, Arkansas, his step-children, Gerald Dewane Luter, Jr. of Dupo, Illinois, Ryan Keith (Stacie) Luter of Waterloo, Illinois and Kami Lynn (David Fragale) Luter of Swansea, Illinois; his brother, Bradley Ponder of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Emma Doggett and Leighton Gage Jeffers; three step-grandchildren, Kayla Luter, Jocelyn Luter and Kayleigh Ann Luter, nieces, nephews and many friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 6:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church, 6107 Dollarway Road, White Hall, Arkansas 71602.  The Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.

Joanne Rose Foster of Freeburg, Illinois entered eternal rest on Monday, April 16, 2012 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Illinois, having attained the age of 59 years, 9 months and 17 days.

Born in Belleville, Illinois on June 29, 1952, she was the daughter of Frank G. and Annie Aurora, nee Roman, Wurth.  

Mrs. Foster was a secretary at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois for 36 years and a member of the Turkey Hill Grange in Belleville, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents
, her ex-husband, Kenneth Foster and her sons, Kenneth Russell Foster and Jesse James Foster.

Surviving are her son, K. David (Emmylu) Foster of Cadet, Missouri; two grandchildren, Chase Foster and Ethan Foster; her fiancé,  Joseph Smith of Freeburg, Illinois; her brothers, Harry Wurth and Frank (Rita) Wurth, both of Freeburg, Illinois; her sisters, Loretta (Jim) Parrish of Dawson, Illinois and Elaine (Cliff) Evans of Smithton, Illinois; her best friend, Kathy May of Red Bud, Illinois, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call on Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and on Friday, April 20, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Matt Friz officiating.  Interment will follow in Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville, Illinois.

Shawn Kevin Hollowood of St. Louis, Missouri entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 14, 2012,  at his home, having attained the age of 37 years, 3 months, and 27 days.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri on December 17, 1974, Shawn was the son of Patrick and Rose Mary "Rosey" nee Gianino,  Hollowood.

Shawn had previously been employed as a heating and air conditioning technician, a sous chef, and was currently a factory worker.

Shawn was preceded in death by his father.

Surviving are his soon to be born son, Shawn Joseph Hollowood, his step-son, Aidan Mowrer; fiancee, Stacy Mowrer Hankinson, all of St. Louis; his mother, Rose Mary "Rosey" Gianino Kessler; his step-father, Ron Kessler; brother and sister, Ethan Kessler and Haylee Kessler, all of Morton Grove, Illinois; maternal grandmother, Millie Hollowood of St. Louis, Missouri; paternal step grandparents, Larry and Phyllis Kessler of Chicago, Illinois; aunts and uncles, Gloria Willliams, Joann Mantia, Vicki Baker, Dominic Gianino, Marilyn Gibbons, Kate Martin, and Richard Hollowood, all of St. Louis, Missouri, and Sam Gianino and Ric Gianino, both of Kansas City, Missouri, many cousins and friends.

In Lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Shawn Joseph Hollowood Trust and may be given to Rosey Gianino Kessler or the funeral home.

A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 10:00A.M. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 5130 Wilson, St. Louis, Missouri with Father Vincent Bommarito officiating.

Laverne M. Froechtenigt of St. Louis, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at The Riverview in St. Louis, Missouri, having attained the age of 84 years, 7 months and 8 days.

Born on August 6, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the daughter of Joseph Frank and Rose Marie, nee Winkler, Froechtenigt.

Miss Froechtenigt was a bank teller and a member of St. George Catholic Church in St. Louis.

Preceding her in death were her parents and her brothers and sisters, George Froechtenigt, Violet Fowler, Marcella Niemeyer, Ruth Schindler and Joseph F. Froechtenigt, Jr.

Surviving are her sister, Helen (William) Murphy of St. Louis, Missouri; her sister-in-law, Patricia Froechtenigt of Littleton, Colorado, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and many friends.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Saturday, March 31, 2012 from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at St. Matthias Catholic Church, 796 Buckley Road, Lemay, Missouri 63125.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Matthias Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis Port officiating.

Born on November 19, 1925 in Murphysboro, Illinois, she was the daughter of Arthur Delano Melton and Mary Louise Melton, nee Ebersohl, Murphy.  She was united in marriage to Kenneth Robinson on May 7, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 28, 1993.

Mrs. Robinson was a member of New Testament Baptist Church in Waterloo, Illinois.

Preceding her in death besides her husband, were her parents, her brothers, Henry Melton, Donald Melton and Larry Melton and her sisters, Dorothy Kessler, Gloria Gibson and Ruth Kelly.

Surviving are her children, Donald (Jeanine) Robinson of Valmeyer, Illinois, Michael (Pam) Robinson of House Springs, Missouri and Kenneth Robinson of Waterloo, Illinois; her brothers, Patrick (Wanda) Melton of Japan and Hortense Lee of Colorado; her sister, Shirley Zarate of New Hanover, Illinois; her grandchildren, Kevin (Kelly) Robinson of Columbia, Illinois, Danny Robinson of Cahokia, Illinois, Stephanie Robinson, Candace (Leroy) Askren, Amy Robinson, Natasha (Anthony) Harris, Joshua Robinson, Iris (Brian) Mitchell, Sarah Robinson, Luke Robinson and Hannah Robinson; 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Born on March 24, 1925 in Freeman’s Spur, Illinois, she was the daughter of Herbert and Blanche, nee Maitland, Colyer.  She was united in marriage to Edward Williams and he preceded her in death.
Preceding her in death besides her husband, Edward, were her parents and two brothers, Charles Colyer and Lowell Colyer.

Surviving are her son, Kenneth (Donna) Valdejo of Millstadt, Illinois; her sister, Sharon Gunter of South Elgin, Illinois; her grandchildren, Geoffrey (Allissa Frazier) Valdejo of Belleville, Illinois and Melina Valdejo of Columbia, Illinois and her great-grandchildren, Vincent Valdejo and Sydney Valdejo, both of Belleville, Illinois.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 13, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois with Rev. Terry Delaney officiating.

Archie Ernest Sorth, Jr. of Bunker Hill, Illinois, formerly of Belleville, Illinois, passed away on February 2, 2012 at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Adminstration Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri having attained the age of 78 years, 9 months and 8 days.

Born on April 24, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Archie Ernest and Lavera, nee Kidd, Sorth, Sr.

Mr. Sorth was a steam fitter and a veteran of the United States Army.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother, David Sorth.

Surviving are his brothers, Danny (Martha) Sorth of St. Louis, Missouri and Ronald Sorth of Idaho, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may gather on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois and will leave in procession from the funeral home for a graveside service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri. Full military honors will be accorded at the graveside.  Rev. Terry Delaney will be officiating.

Born in Missouri on January 1, 1924, she was the daughter of William Edward and Kathleen, nee Candlebinder, Walsh.  She was united in marriage to David Francis Gordon and he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Gordon was a bank teller and a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Belleville, Illinois.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were her parents; her sister, Juanita Walsh; her brothers, James Walsh, Edward Walsh and Francis Walsh and her great-grandson, James Michael Kohlberg.

Surviving are her children, Dolores Eileen (Joseph) Kohlberg of Ballwin, Missouri and Deirdre Leigh (Jeremy) Gossett of Belleville, Illinois; her brother, John (Diane) Walsh of Sarasota, Florida; her grandchildren, Renee Ann (Joe) Vila of Wildwood, Missouri, Robert David Kohlberg of St. Charles, Missouri and Madonna (Jim) Velantie of Mansfield, Texas; her great-grandchildren, Katherine (Carmen) Masterson of St. Charles, Missouri, Christopher John (Andrea) Kohlberg of Ballwin, Missouri, T. J. Biddle of Festus, Missouri, Shannon Smith of Vandalia, Illinois and Nicole Biddle of Festus, Missouri; her great-great-grandchildren, Jace, Maddox, Cameron, Zoe, Daniel, Matthew and Christopher, Jr., nieces, nephews and many friends.

Robert Daniel Schlattweiler, 88, of Millstadt, Illinois entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born on June 28, 1923, in East Saint Louis, Illinois, he was the son of Harry Adam and Elizabeth Bridget, nee Bresnaham, Schlattweiler.  He was united in marriage to Betty June Morgan on October 19, 1949, at St. Phillip’s Catholic Church in East St. Louis, Illinois.

Robert spent 20 years as a Sales Manager for Yellow Freight. He also served in the European Theater of Operations in World War II.

Preceding him in death were her parents, one son, Robert Jr. Who died in infancy; a sister, Dorothy Strayhorn; brother and sister-in-laws, George Sturm, Jim and Nan Hull, David Morgan, and Col. William Pershall.

Surviving are his children, Joyce (John) Linnemann,  Millstadt, Illinois., Ed Schlattweiler, of Millstadt, Illinois., Jan (Ron) Courtney, Millstadt, Illinois., Karen (Dean) Erpenbach, Columbia, Illinois.; grandchildren, Todd (Lisa Forsberg) Courtney, New York, New York, Colleen (Rich) Harrington, West Frankfort, Illinois., Elizabeth (Nate) Windeknecht, St. Louis, Missouri. At Robert’s request his body was donated to the St. Louis university School of Medicine.

VISITATION: will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the St. James Roman Catholic Church, Millstadt, Illinois.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. at the church with Father Marvin Volk officiating.

"Bill" Weinhold on May 14, 1949 at Trinity Lutheran Church in East St. Louis, Illinois.

Mrs. Weinhold was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Millstadt and the VFW Auxiliary Post 7980 in Millstadt.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister, Leona Schlemmer and a brother-in-law, Glen Weinhold.

Surviving are her husband, Wilbert C. "Bill" Weinhold of Millstadt, Illinois; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Story of Columbia, Illinois and Mary Ann Weinhold of Union, Missouri, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Friends may call on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Creason Funeral Home in Millstadt, Illinois.  Memorials may be made to the family and will be received at the funeral home.
