Verl Duane Fisher

Verl Duane Fisher, 90, of Assumption, Illinois died
on August 30, 2010 following an extended illness.
Funeral
services will be held at the Memorial Presbyterian Church of Assumption at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2010 with
visitation one hour before service time. Pastor Tom Mulch and Paul Jones will officiate.
The family requests that memorials be made in care of the Verl Fisher Veterans Foundation,
First National Bank, P.O. Box 197, Assumption, Illinois 62510.
Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Assumption with full
Military Honors by Tacusah VFW Post #6577.
Mr.
Fisher was born September 20, 1919 in Clarksburg, IL to the late Forrest and Maude (Patterson) Fisher. He attended Eastern
Illinois University and graduated from the Bradley School of Horology in Peoria, Illinois, before beginning a long career
as a jeweler. For many years he owned and operated Fisher's Jewelry in Assumption, Illinois. He was also the
owner of an insurance and real estate agency in Assumption.
Mr. Fisher was a member of the 305th Bomber Group as a pilot for the USAF in WWII. He flew 24 missions as a
pilot of the B-17 bomber and spent 19 months as a German POW. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with three
clusters, and the European Theatre Medal. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Masonic Lodge, all
in Assumption, IL.
Mr. Fisher is preceded in
death by his wife of 55 years, Frances Louise Burgener
"Cookie" Fisher and by one brother, Loren W. Fisher. He is survived by son Randy Duane Fisher, Decatur, Illinois;
daughter Peggy and husband Jerry Hudson of Jackson, WY; daughter Mary Jane and husband Gary Gabrielsen of Riverwoods, Illinois;
sister-in-law Ruth Fisher of Topeka, KS; four grandsons Chad and wife Dianne Hudson of Jackson, WY; Brand Hudson of Atlanta,
GA; Kevin and Brian Gabrielsen both of Riverwoods, IL; and great granddaughter Brooke Hannah Hudson.

Louis Samuel Jockisch

Louis Samuel Jockisch, 97, died Tuesday, August 23,
2010 (11:05 p.m.) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday August 30, 2010 in Zion
Chapel United Methodist Church, near Boody, Illinois with Pastor Sally Hamon officiating.
Visitation will
be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 29 in Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua and one hour before service time at Zion Chapel United
Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Zion Cemetery, Boody, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to Zion Chapel
United Methodist Church or the American Heart Fund.
Louis was born on August 7, 1913 in Boody, Illinois, the son
of Samuel T. and Nellie (Kater) Jockisch.
He married Myrtle L. Wheeler on March 1, 1936 in Blue Mound, Illinois.
She preceded him in death on August 30, 1984.
Louis was a member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church his entire
life. He served on both the Church Board and the Blue Mound Township Board for many years.
He retired after
50 years of farming north of Boody.
Louis loved and adored his family.
Surviving are daughters
Mary Ducummon of San Jose, CA, JoAnn (Paul) Whobrey of The Villages, FL; and Phyllis (Terry) Lanter of Macon, IL; 17 grandchildren;
33 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his wife, parents, and one
brother Ralph Jockisch.

Leila LaVonne "Bonnie" Mentzer

Leila LaVonne "Bonnie" Mentzer, 84, of Assumption,
died August 20, 2010, at 8:50 a.m., in the home of her daughter Mary, surrounded by her two granddaughters.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 27, 2010, in the
Assumption First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Compton officiating.
Visitation will be 5-8:00 p.m., Thursday in Seitz Funeral Home, Assumption and one hour before service
time on Friday at the church.
Burial will be
in Bethany Cemetery, Rural Assumption, Illinois.
Memorials
may be made to the Assumption First United Methodist Church or the Assumption Public Library.
LaVonne was born January 20, 1926 in Lying-In Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, the daughter
of Lester Edmond and Lela Florinda (Norene) Rehbein. She graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1941. She attended
the University of Illinois, where she met her husband of 52 years, and later graduated from Millikin University with a degree
in Education.
She married Robert Lyle
"Bob" Mentzer on September 8, 1946 in Chillicothe, Illinois. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1999.
Bonnie and Bob started their lives together in Savoy, Illinois and later started farming near Arthur, then Penfield, Illinois
before moving to Assumption, Illinois in 1956.
Bonnie
was an avid genealogist and life-long learner. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, was an advocate
for 4-H and maintained her love of farming.
She
was a member of the Assumption First United Methodist Church, Christian County Lady Landowners, and Shelby County Farm Bureau.
She is survived by daughter, Sandra Burrus
of Madison, WI, son, John (Laura) Mentzer of Assumption, IL, daughter, Mary Bohner of Elgin, IL, son-in-law Ronald Throneburg
of Assumption, IL, brother-in-law, Richard Lynn Mentzer of Micco, FL, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, twin brother,
Lester LaVerne Rehbein (at two weeks), daughter, Carol LaVonne Throneburg (2005), and son-in-law, John Paul Burrus (1991).

Leona Irene DeLong

Leona Irene DeLong, 89, of Assumption died August 5,
2010 in Prairie Rose Health Care Center.
Services
will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 18th, 2010 in St. Mary's Church, Assumption with Fr. Don Wolford officiating
with inurnment in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Leona
was born October 10, 1920, the daughter of Leo and Vallie (Purdy) Richardson in Carbondale, Illinois.
She married Leland D. DeLong in Assumption on November 26, 1955.
He preceded her in death on October 15, 2007.
Leona
was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Assumption, and St. Mary's Altar Society. She worked in a garment factory
and later owned and operated a beauty shop.
Surviving
Leona are her brother Edgar, and wife Adaline Richardson of San Antonio, TX and cousin Norman, and wife Jerri Bethard of Assumption,
Illinois.

Brian Glenn Ade

Brian Glenn Ade, 42, of Moweaqua, died August 4, 2010.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 9, 2010 in the
First Christian Church of Moweaqua with Lloyd Johnson officiating.
Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m., Sunday August 8, 2010 also at the church.
Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to College Trust Fund for the Ade Children.
Mr. Ade was born April 30, 1968 at the Yokosuka Naval Base near
Yokohama, Japan, the son of Sam and Shorty Ade and the late Richard "Dick" Ade.
He married Jill Aumann on August 13, 1988 in Nokomis. She is surviving.
Mr. Ade was a member of the First Christian Church of Moweaqua,
a graduate of Pana High School Class of 1986, and a 1991 graduate from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. He
was a Technical Supervisor with Time-Warner in Dallas, TX.
He leaves behind his wife, Jill, sons Bryce of Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Reece of Moweaqua, and daughter Tori
also of Moweaqua; brothers Curtis and wife Michelle Ade of Fort Worth, TX, Steven and wife Susan Ade of Rosamond, IL
and sister Amanda, and husband Brandon Harlow of Moweaqua.
