Norma Jean Downing McClendon

Norma Jean Downing McClendon, age 80, of Tompkinsville, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

She was born September 6, 1931 in Monroe County to the late Fred Downing and Anna Glyn Rich Downing.  She was a retired sales clerk for Becky’s and Youth Fashion, a member of Tompkinsville Methodist Church and the wife of Robert Beverly “Bev” McClendon .

She is survived by her husband Robert Beverly ”Bev” McClendon, three sons: Robert McClendon, Tim McClendon and Tommy McClendon, one daughter: Beverly Jean Harper all of Tompkinsville, two sisters: Virginia Landrum of Tompkinsville and Kathleen Cook of Florida.  9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters: Christine Bowman and Clara Nell “Tootsie” Clark and a grandson: Jeremy McClendon.

Funeral services will be private and there will be no public visitation.

Memorials are suggested to the Evans Oak Hill Cemetery.
