Willa Mae Starks

Willa Mae Starks, 65, died Tuesday November 1, 2011 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY.

She was a member of the Wards Chapel AME Church where she served as a Stewardess, Trustee, Sunday School Teacher, Bible Study Leader, Treasurer, and Choir member; a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She married the late Charles W. Starks and to this union, eight children were born.

One of her favorite past time was playing bingo. She was also known for her culinary skills.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anna Louis and Ellis J. Walker; three brothers, Calvin C. Brown, James Walker, and Robert Walker; two half-sisters, Mrs. Overleta Warren & Rosetta Payne.

She is survived by eight children, Sonya P. Johns (Stacy) of Nashville, TN, Tracy E. Starks (Sarah) of Scottsville, KY, Andrea S. Percell (Danny) of Elizabethtown, KY, Dana R. Napier (Marty) of Scottsville, KY, Tammy A. Fine (Tony), of Scottsville, KY, Amy C. Drolet (James), of Gallatin, TN, Marlaina D. Napier (Greg) of Scottsville, KY, Bonita D. Wood (Kerry) of Independence, KY; 15, grandchildren, Nakeeta, Steven, Antonio, Ashley, Bradley, DeShawn, Casey, Austin, McKenzie, Charlize, Kameryn, Jasmyne, Jordan, Asia, Kerry R; seven great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be a 1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Wards Chapel AME Church with Reverends Melanie Samuel-Black and David Chavious officiating.

Visitation will begin after 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2011, and on Saturday, November 5, 7:30 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. at the Strode Funeral Home, and after 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the Wards Chapel AME Church. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed with contributions to the Wards Chapel AME Church Building Fund.
