IN MEMORY OF:
John E. Steenbergen

John E. Steenbergen, age 90 of Scottsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 14th at the Medical Center of Scottsville.  

He was born in Allen County on February 23, 1921 to the late John Layton Steenbergen and Pearl Elmore Steenbergen.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, retired from Firestone/Bridgestone, a member of the New Bethel United Methodist Church where he served on the committee of trustees and chairman of the parsonage committee. He was also an avid UK Basketball fan.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Frank Steenbergen, and Gilbert Steenbergen; sister, Minnie Helen Steenbergen.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dora Dean Pruitt Steenbergen of Scottsville; son, Miles C. Steenbergen of Antioch, TN; daughter, Sheila Steenbergen of Scottsville; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. from the Strode Funeral Home in Scottsville with Bro. Chuck Pruitt and Bro. Gale Wetzel officiating.  Burial will follow in the Crescent Hill Cemetery with military rites to be conducted by the DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.

Friends may call after 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 15, 2011 and after 7:30 A.M. on Friday, September 16, 2011.
