Paul Tussey
1924 – 2012

Paul “Pap” Tussey 87, of Warnock Kentucky went to be with the lord Thursday January 19, 2012 at Kings Daughter Medical Center in Ashland Kentucky.

He was born in Greenup County Kentucky on May 31, 1924 a son of the late Grover & Ollie Mae Coburn Tussey.

He was retired from Kinner Lumber Company in Greenup and spent his life as a farmer which he loved. He was dearly loved by his family and friends and was always there when you needed him. He was the greatest man we ever knew and he loved the lord.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife Jessrie Abdon Tussey; a daughter, Phyllis Tussey; two brothers, Charlie Tussey and Leslie Tussey; two sisters, Georgie Potter and Elizabeth Hall.

He is survived by a son, Ronald E. Tussey and his wife Shirley of Warnock; seven grandchildren, Rickey Tussey and his wife Belva, David Tussey, Debbie Allen and her husband Chester Jr., Randall Tussey and his wife Sarah, Christiane Kouns and her husband Louie, Crystal Shearer and her husband Johnny and Kimberly Murray and her husband Aaron; eleven great grandchildren, Gavin Tussey and his wife Amber , Ronald L. Tussey and his wife Ashlie, Isaiah Tussey, Tilden Allen, Gabriel Allen, Jacob Allen, Emma Tussey, Natalie Tussey, Lily Kouns, Brennan Murray and Jace Murray; and one great great grandchild, Logan Tussey.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday January 23, 2012 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup Kentucky by Brother Ronald Tussey.

Burial will follow in the Coburn Cemetery in Warnock Kentucky.

Visitation will be after 6:00 PM Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the funeral home.

Robert Curnutte Sr.
1947 – 2012

Robert Ray Curnutte Sr. 64, of Catlettsburg went to be with the lord on Monday, January 16, 2012 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland KY.

He was born in Fallsburg KY on November 25, 1947 a son of the late Alva & Dovie Castle Curnutte.

He was a retired stockman for Foodland Groceries and attended the Old Regular Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death along with his parents by his wife, Alice Verna Adkins Curnutte; a sister, Mae Back and two brothers, Charles Curnutte and David Curnutte.

He is survived by a son Robert Ray Curnutte Jr. and his wife Megan of Ironton OH; two grandchildren, Peighton Ruth Curnutte and Cooper Elliot Curnutte; three sisters, Virginia Daniels of Elwood IN, Ruth Watson of Columbus OH and Faye Shama and her husband Davis of Columbus OH.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, January 20, 2012 at the Association Building of the Philadelphia Association of the Old Regular Baptist Church in Worthington KY by Brother Gary Adkins.

Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery in Flatwoods KY.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Association Building.

Services are under the direction of Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY.

Ronnie Jarrell
1941 – 2012

Ronnie Gene Jarrell 70, of Wurtland, went to be with the lord on Friday January 13, 2012 at his residence.

Ronnie was born in Ashland KY on May 21, 1941 a son of the late Harrison G. & Anna Marie Hopkins Jarrell.

He was a retired electrician at the Uranium Enrichment Plant in Piketon OH, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Greenup Lodge #89 F & A.M.

Survivors include his wife Louvonne Day Jarrell, whom he married on February 26, 1969; a daughter, Ronda Gene Swiney and her husband Chris of Ashland; a brother, Troy Lee Jarrell and his wife Bess of Gallipolis OH; four sisters, Eve Gipson, Donna Kay Hunley and her husband Gary and P.J. Blankenship and her husband Jim all of Catlettsburg and Pamela Mister of Worthington; and one granddaughter, Starla Sophia Swiney, his pride and joy.  

Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Melvin Leonhart.

Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup County.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2012 and 1 hour before the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM during visitation by members of Greenup Lodge #89 F & A.M.

Military graveside rites will be performed by the South Shore American Legion.

Leonard Ison
1926 – 2012

Leonard Ison 85, of Wurtland KY, went to be with the lord on Friday, January 13, 2012 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY.

Leonard was born in Raceland KY on February 22, 1926, a son of the late John & Essie Braden Ison.

He was a retired brakeman for the C & O Railroad, a WW II Navy Veteran and attended the South Fork Old Regular Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by a grandson, Joshua Chinn; two brothers, Ralph Ison and Stanley Ison and two sisters, Louise Melvin and Edna Fritz.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Frances Hicks Ison whom he married on April 11, 1946; two daughters, Linda Gayle Ball and her husband Kenny of Wurtland and Tara Lynn Chinn and her husband Chuck of Greenup; five grandchildren, Melissa Lemaster and her husband Brian, Ron Ball and his wife Sheila, Don Ball and his wife Traci, Nathan Ball and his wife Kristen and Erin Valandingham and her husband Wes; along with 11 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, January 16, 2012 at the South Fork Old Regular Baptist Church in Worthington by Elders Gary Blevins and Willis Tolliver.

Burial will follow at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods KY.

Visitation will be after 6:00 PM Sunday at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup and 1 hour before the funeral services at the church on Monday.

Waymond Harris
1937 – 2012

Waymond Tolliver Harris 74, of Greenup, went to be with the lord on Thursday January 5, 2012 in Greenup Kentucky.

He was born in Portsmouth Ohio on June 13, 1937, a son of the late Kit Carson & Cobia Ellen McNeal Harris.

Waymond was a retired surveyor for the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, the founder of Waymond Harris & Associates Surveying Company and a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church of God where he was a Sunday school teacher.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife Emma Lou White Harris and a brother Joseph P. Harris.

He is survived by two sons, Tim Harris and his wife Becky of Greenup and John Harris of Ashland; a daughter, Debbie Gilliam and her husband Paul of Ashland; two brothers, James Harris and his wife Angie of Winchester and David Harris and his wife Donna of Greenup; two sisters, Helen Sue May and her husband Eddie and Syrilda Conley and her husband Paul both of Russell; seven grandchildren, Adam Harris, Daniel Harris, Jason Harris, Eric Harris, Jeff Harris, Nicole Gilliam and David Gilliam; four great grandchildren, Jacob Powell, Noah Harris, Calix Harris and Eva Harris; and a host of family, friends and brothers and sisters of the Gospel Tabernacle Church of God.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 9, 2012 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Acy Gibson.

Burial will follow in the Plum Grove Cemetery in Greenup.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Sunday January 8, 2012 at the funeral home.

Willis Knipp
1930 – 2011

Willis Knipp 81, of South Shore went to be with the lord Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Community Hospice in Ashland KY.

Mr. Knipp was born in Carter County KY on May 19, 1930 a son of the late Henry & Litha Mosier Knipp.

He was a retired Machinist Helper for C.S.X. Railroad.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by four sons, Roger Knipp, Leslie Knipp, Gary Knipp and Darrell Knipp; two brothers, Willard Knipp and Earl Knipp; five sisters, Ruby Frazier, Alma Knipp, Goldie Knipp, Thelma Waddell and Myrtle Knipp; and a grandson, Matthew Belford.

He is survived by his wife Lorene Carroll Knipp; two sons, Michael Knipp of Salmon Idaho and Ray Knipp of South Shore; a step son, Roger Belford and his wife Pam of South Shore; a step daughter Claudia McGuire of Charleston SC; fifteen grandchildren, Shannon Knipp, Allen Knipp, Glenna Bowling, Chad Knipp, Glenn Knipp, Lisa Knipp, Leslie Knipp, Robert Knipp. Michele Kale, Nicole Brussel, Chris Hern, Michele Hern, Jimmy Hern, Larry Belford and Jason Belford; and 21 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Paul Stapleton.

Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in South Shore KY.

Marilyn Warren
1934 – 2011

Marilyn Verree Thomas Warren 77, of Greenup went to be with her lord, Monday December 12, 2011 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland KY.

She was born in Hitchens KY on December 4, 1934 a daughter of the late Omar Henry & Ethel Duvall Thomas.

She was a secretary for Ashland Oil and worked at the Food Stamp Office.

She is survived by her husband Donald Earl Warren; a daughter, Tracie Lynn Butler and her husband Wade of Ashland; two granddaughters, Brittany E. Damron and Amanda Kay Burns both of Ashland; five great grandchildren, Louann Christian Rowe, Payton Diamond Rowe, Taylor Ward, Michael Burns and Ashton Davidison; five sisters, Faye (Donna) Sykes of Flatwoods, Evelyn Hildreth of Versailles, Kay Burriss of Russell, Betty Bryan of Ashland and Loretta Prichard of Dayton OH.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday at Golden Oaks Memorial Gardens in Ashland by Brother David Combs.

There is no visitation.

Donna Schoonover
1954 – 2011

Donna Carol Schoonover 57 passed away Thursday December 8, 2011 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland KY.

She was born on June 15, 1954 at Lockbourne Air Force Base in Columbus OH. She was raised and lived in Greenup County.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother Dorothy Gee and her step grandfather Ernest Gee, who raised her.

She was also preceded in death by her father Donald Colley of Portsmouth, OH and her mother Carole Rideout of Portsmouth.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, William “Bill” Schoonover formally of Portsmouth and her step mother Joan Fairbanks of Ocala FL. She is also survived by three dear friends, whom she considered her sisters, Ruth Ann McGlone, Gloria Spurlock and Elaine Apodaca.

Donna’s calling in life was that of an R.N. She had a long career as a hospice nurse in Greenup County.

Donna had several hobbies, but her most cherished memories were her animals. She had a long and illustrious history showing horses. She loved all animals and requested and donations in her memory be made to a charitable organization for animals of your choice.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday December 12, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Mike Green.

Burial will follow in the Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd KY

Visitation will be after 6:00 PM Sunday and 1 hour before the funeral on Monday at the funeral home.

1928 – 2011

Ruby Mae Wurts 82, of Greenup went to be with the lord on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY.

She was born in Greenup Kentucky on April 4, 1929 a daughter of the late Charles P. & Chloe Pennington Wurts.

Ruby attended the Coal Branch Tabernacle and the Tri – State Gospel Assembly.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by three brothers, Ernest Wurts, Charles W. “Pat” Wurts and John C. Wurts and two sisters, Rosa Sparks and Grace Lewis.

She is survived by a sister, Susan Helton of Lloyd KY and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, December 9, 2011 at Wight’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Gene Pierce.

Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Greenup.

Visitation will be after 6:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.

Adora Davis
1939 – 2011

Adora Ellen Stout Davis 72, of Portsmouth died Thursday November 24, 2011 at the Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.

She was born in Portsmouth on November 24, 1939 a daughter of the late Charles & Cora Wright Stout.

She was of the Protestant faith, a veteran of the United States Marine Corp’s, loved the women she is still in contact with while she was in the Marine’s, an avid reader, loved her dogs and to sew.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Roy Daniel Davis and a son Roy Daniel Davis Jr.

She is survived by a daughter, Sheila Davis of Portsmouth and three sisters, Bertha Jane Stout Will and Marilyn Stout Adkins both of Portsmouth and Anna Darlene Stout Twinam of Wheelersburg.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday November 28, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Daniel Naylor.

Burial will follow in the Harrison Furnace Cemetery in Harrison Township OH.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Sunday November 27, 2011 at the funeral home. 

Glendale Holbert
1940 – 2011

Glendale “Jingles” Holbert 71, of Load went to be with the lord on Friday, November 18, 2011 at his home.

He was born in Pickaway Ohio on November 16, 1940 a son of the late Jasper & Polly Jane Dingus Holbert.

He was a member of the Load Enterprise Baptist Church and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife Mary M. Marshall Holbert of Load; five daughters, Roxanne Kegley and her husband Paul of Warnock, Mary Louise Brewer and her husband William of Cincinnati, Linda Sue White and her husband Bill of Campton, Bridget Grant Seagraves and her husband Kevin of Load and Ivory Marie Hartman and her husband Stephen of Olive Hill; two sisters, Marion Gail Pack of Load and Carrie Lieurance of Wilmington OH; 12 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.

Services will be 1:00 PM Monday November 21, 2011 at the Greenup Wesleyan Church by Brother Larry Bays.

Burial will follow in the Marshall Cemetery in Load KY.

Viewing will be 6:00 PM Sunday November 20, 2011 at the Greenup Wesleyan Church.

His Grandsons will serve as Pall Bears.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by the South Shore American Legion.

David Rose
1954 - 2011

David Junior Rose 57, of Bays Ridge Greenup went to be with the lord on Thursday November 17, 2011 at Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wurtland KY.

David was born in Greenup County on February 3, 1954 a son of the late Elza Hackworth and Edna Mae Rose.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by two brothers, Willie Rose and Charlie Rose and a sister, Patty Higginbottom.

He is survived by his wife Wilma Jean Brown Rose of Greenup; a brother, George Rose of South Webster Ohio and two sisters, Loretta Rose and Ruby Rose both of Greenup.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday November 20, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Dan Brown.

Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery in Greenup.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Saturday November 19 and two hours before the service on Sunday at the funeral home. 

Virginia May Ratliff
1910 – 2011

Virginia May “Jin” Plummer Ratliff 101, of Greenup went to be with her lord and savior on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Community Hospice in Ashland KY.

She was born in Carter County Kentucky on March 14, 1910 a daughter of the late Benjamin Sanders & Betsy Howard Plummer of Smith Branch.

She was a retired Baker for Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth OH, attended the New Life Fellowship Church in Russell, a devoted homemaker and enjoyed making chicken and dumplings and crumble cake. She and her brothers Delmar and Denver sang at funerals in Greenup and the surrounding areas.

Her joy in life was her family and friends she had received during her lifetime. She was an angel that made such a difference in the lives of all she met. This world would be such a better place if there were more people like “Murr”.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Ernest James Ratliff; three sons, Jerry C. Beasley, Claude Russell Ratliff and Raymond Roger Ratliff; a granddaughter, Myra K. Garcia; a grandson, James Gregory Coffee; six brothers, Russell Plummer, Raymond Plummer, Denver Plummer, Delmar Plummer, James Plummer and John Plummer; two sisters, Gladys Burgess and Edna Vallance.

Murr is survived by four daughters, Maxine Riley of Flatwoods, Patty (Dave) Moore of Greenup, Eleanor (Leo) Chapman of Hurricane WV and Wililee Senters of Palm Bay FL; a son Glenroi (Loretta) Ratliff of Melborne FL; a brother, Vernon (Leona) Plummer of South Shore; 29 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren; two special grandsons, Brian Coffee and Michael Ratliff along with four very special nieces and nephews Debbie Vallance, Steve Vallance, Josh Plummer and Isaac Howard.

Funeral services will be held at Noon Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Jason Plummer.

Burial will follow in Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods KY.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Friday November 18, 2011 and one hour before the service Saturday at the funeral home.

C.R. Wells
1964 – 2011

Clyde Raymond Wells II 47, of Raceland died Thursday November 10, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY.

Mr. Wells was born February 20, 1964 in Ironton Ohio a son of Clyde Raymond & Dona Rae Sexton Wells of Raceland.

He is survived along with his parents by a brother Ronald J. Wells of Ashland and a sister Lisa Lynn Wessel of Ashland.

Funeral services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup is in charge of the arrangements.

Jimmy Doran
1934 – 2011

Jimmy Doran 76, a lifelong resident of the City of Greenup, went to be with the lord Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at his residence.

Jimmy was born in Greenup on November 29, 1934 a son of the late James Blaine and Sue Terrill Doran.

He was retired from Allied Chemical, Ironton Coke and Pathways Inc.

He was a former Mayor and Council member of the City of Greenup and was very proud to be instrumental in the procurement of the City Park and the supplying of water to many residents of Greenup County.

In addition he was a former Chief of the Greenup Fire Department, a graduate of Greenup Independent High School class of 1953, President of the Riverview Cemetery Association, a charter member of the Greenup Jaycee’s, past president of the Greenup Lions Club, a little league baseball and basketball coach, a Kentucky Colonel, Elder of the Greenup Presbyterian Church, he loved to study military history, work crossword puzzles and was a diehard fan of U.K. and Greenup County sports.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife, Hazel Frazier Doran and a brother Nicholas Terrill Doran.  

He is survived by a son, Phillip Wendle Doran of Greenup; a daughter, Karen Faith Doran of Greenup; a brother Roger Terry Doran and his wife Judy of Greenup and his animals, HG, Ghost, Blackie, Lick and Chessie Joe.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday November 12, 2011 at the Greenup Presbyterian Church on West Main Street, Greenup by Brother Jack Edwards.

Burial will follow in the Riverview Cemetery in Greenup.

Visitation will be from Noon till 9:00 PM Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Church.

Serving as Pallbearers will be David Stultz, Tom Stultz, Bruce Leslie, Brad Stultz, B.R. Doran, Terry Frazier, Paul Amburgy and Larry Cremeans.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all the citizens of Greenup.

Raymond Adkins
1928 - 2011

Raymond Lee Adkins 83, of Wurtland, died Saturday, October 22, 2011 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell KY.

Mr. Adkins was born in Chesapeake OH on July 17, 1928, a son of the late Marshall and Eva Hess Adkins.

He was a retired crane operator for the C & O Railroad, a Greenup County Constable for 33 years, a member of the Greenup County Democrat Executive Committee, a member of Greenup Masonic Lodge #89 and a member of the Covington Scottish Rite.

He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Marie Adkins and a great grandson Daniel Ray Skaggs.

He is survived by two sons, Dan Adkins and his wife Marian of Grayson and Michael Adkins and his wife Vera Rae of Great Falls MT; a daughter, Mitzie Adkins of Wytheville VA; a sister, Shirley Flannigan of Ft. Lauderdale FL; a granddaughter, Christina Skaggs;  two great grandchildren, Jayden Skaggs and Raven Skaggs; and his little sidekick, his dog Casper.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday October 26, 2011 at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods by Brother Sandy Adams.

Visitation will be at 6:00 PM Tuesday at Wright's Funeral Home in Greenup.

Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM during visitation.

Maynard Leslie Craft
1921 – 2011

Maynard Leslie Craft 90, of Wurtland KY went to be with the lord Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY.

He was born January 3, 1921 in Argillite KY a son of the late Benjamin & Alpha Jane Gillespie Craft.

He was a WW II Navy Veteran and a retired Blacksmith for C & O Railroad.

He was preceded in death along with his parents by his wife Maxine Marie Cox Craft his wife of 67 years; three sisters, Rose Ann Cheek, Tilda White and Annis Bixer; and one brother, Ben Craft.

He is survived by four sons, Larry Junior Craft and his wife Mary of Lloyd, James Leslie Craft and his wife Drema of Worthington, Danny Edward Craft and his wife Peggy of Wurtland and Terry Curtis Craft of Chesapeake VA; two daughters, Sharon Louise Willis of Wurtland and Teresa Ann Vergne and her husband Tom of Richmond VA; Thirteen Grandchildren, William G. Craft, Johnny L. Craft, Larry T. Craft, David M. Craft, Nathan L. Craft, Patrick A. Craft, Rhonda K. Wilson, Jennifer R. Gillum, Lisa M. Willis, Matthew J. Vergne, Leia R. Vergne, Josha C. Craft and Christopher A. Craft; and fourteen Great Grandchildren.

Graveside Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Baker Cemetery in Grayson KY by Brother Scott Hill.

Burial will follow in the Baker Cemetery in Grayson KY.

Viewing will be 6:00 PM Friday October 14, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup.

Military graveside rites will be held by the South Shore American Legion.  

Cordelia Miller
1928 - 2011

Cordelia Reed “Cordie” Virgin Miller 83, of Greenup went to be with the lord on Thursday September 8, 2011 at her residence.

She was born on May 24, 1928 in Cornishville KY a daughter of the late John & Lottie Warner Reed.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by two husbands, Paul Ed Virgin and Joseph Miller; a daughter Rita Gay Virgin; a brother, Roy Reed and a sister, Carolene VanDiver.

Cordie was a member of the Three Mile Christian Baptist Church where she was the church pianist and the women’s Sunday school teacher for years. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, Christian and friend.

She is survived by three sons, Greg Virgin and his wife Roberta of Wurtland, Dennis Virgin and his wife Lydia of Wurtland and John Virgin and his wife Karen of Greenup; a daughter, Joanna Fyffe and her husband Ronnie of Lexington; six grandchildren, Rhiannon Hester, Remington Virgin, Derrick Virgin, Landon Virgin, Hannah Fyffe and Alex McCoy; and three great grandchildren, Isabella Hester, Shaleigh Virgin and Laikyn Virgin.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday September 11, 2011 at the Three Mile Christian Baptist Church by Brothers Donnie Smith and Eugene Wilburn.

Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Visitation will be after 6:00 PM Saturday at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup and an hour before the service at the church on Sunday.

Anna Mae Layman
1938 – 2011

Anna Mae VanHoose Layman 73, of Ashland KY went to be with the lord Wednesday Sept 7, 2011 at Hospice of Huntington.

She was born in Greenup County KY on January 27, 1938 a son of the late Halley VanHoose and the late Stella Stone.

She was a member of the Wildwood Baptist Church in Westwood KY.

She is survived by her husband William Frank “Bill” Layman of Ashland; four sons, Kevin Plummer of Lexington, Keith Plummer of Huntington, Kyle Plummer of Satillite Beach FL and Kenny Plummer of Grove City OH; and a brother, James VanHoose of Greenup.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday September 13, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY.

Burial will be in the Siloam Cemetery in South Shore KY

Visitation will be from 11:00 AM till the time of the funeral on Tuesday.

Verna Corns
1928 – 2011

Verna Darlene Corns 83, of Load went to be with the lord on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland KY.

She was born in Greenup County KY on April 6, 1928, a daughter of the late Clarence and Emma Mae Marshall Palmer.

She was a member of the Load Independent Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by a daughter, Donna Jean Royster Stephens in 2008.

She is survived by her husband David Wesley “Wes” Corns; a son, Clarence David Corns of Load; two daughters, Carneda Gail Clevenger and her husband Larry of Lloyd and Vickie Ann Chaffins and her husband Terry of Garrett KY; two brothers, James Palmer of Greenup and Clarence Palmer of Clovis NM; two sisters, Deloris Hall of Greenup and Jeanie Steele of FL; 15 grandchildren; 44 Great Grandchildren and one Great Great Grandchild.

Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brothers Danny Brown and Paul Martin.

Committal services and burial will follow in the Wesley Corns Family Cemetery by Brother Robbie Bond.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Friday August 12, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home.

Lucille Collier
1919 – 2011

Lucille Braden Cremeans Collier 92, of Lloyd, went to be with the lord, Thursday, August 4, 2011 at Oak Mount Manor Nursing Home in Flatwoods KY.

She was born on January 5, 1919 in Greenup County KY a daughter of the late Hesbert and Bertha Boyles Braden.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by two husbands, Lyle Cremeans and Dee Collier; a grandson, Russ Cremeans; five brothers, Arville, Jimmy, Harlan, Carl and Elmer Braden; and a sister, Ruth Collier.

She was a member of the Load Christian Baptist Church and loved to attend the Greenup Senior Citizens Center.

She is survived by two sons, Gary (Nita) Cremeans of Lloyd and Mike (Pat) Cremeans of Texas; one granddaughter, Amanda (Matt) Keibler; four grandsons, Nathan(Amanda Hope), Eric, Matt and Chris Cremeans; five great grandchildren, Gracie, John, Austin, Isaac and Triston; one brother, Billy Braden; and Brenda Stanley a daughter she never had along with several loving nieces and nephews.

Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday August 6, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Mike Allen.

Burial will follow in the Nichols Cemetery in Load KY.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM Friday August 5, 2011 at the funeral home.

Geneva Stout
1941 – 2011

Geneva Fern Stout 70, of Scioto County went to be with the lord on Saturday July 30, 2011 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth OH.

She was born in Scioto County on July 27, 1941 a daughter of the late Charles Wilbur and Cora Wright Stout.

She was a member of the Swauger Valley Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by a brother, Thompson Dwight Stout; three sisters, Margaret Francis Wagner, Jacqueline Rose Watters and Donna Sue Stout.

She is survived by four sisters, Bertha Will of Portsmouth, Adora Ellen Davis of Sciotoville, Anna Darlene Twinam of Wheelersburg and Marilyn Faye Adkins of Portsmouth; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday August 3, 2011 at the Swauger Valley Freewill Baptist Church by Brothers Ronald Parker and Mike Simpson.

Burial will follow in the Harrison Furnace Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be 6:00 till 9:00 PM Tuesday August 2, 2011 at the Swauger Valley Freewill Baptist Church.  
   

Joseph Maybee
1998 – 2011

Joseph James Maybee 13, of Greenup went to be with Jesus Wednesday July 27, 2011 in Greenup KY.

He was born in Royal Oak Michigan on April 9, 1998 a son of Scott William Maybee and Jamie Louise Jackson both of Greenup.

He attended Wurtland Middle School and loved to fish and ride his dirt bike.

He is survived along with his parents by a sister Lahna Marie Maybee; a maternal grandmother, Loretta Jackson of Greenup; a paternal grandmother, Donna Griffin of Arizona; a maternal great grandmother, Louise Sizemore of Greenup and a paternal great mother Thelma Bryant of Michigan; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be 7:00 PM Saturday July 30, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup KY by Brother Wayne Stephenson.

Viewing will be from 2:00 till 6:00 PM Saturday afternoon before the funeral services.

Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family in the Sizemore Cemetery in Greenup KY.   

Eunice Eastham
1916 – 2011

Eunice Elliott Eastham 95, of Greenup went to be with the lord on Monday, July 4, 2011 at the Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on Hoods Run in Greenup County on May 19, 1916 a daughter of the late Alexander & Lydia Johnson Elliott.

She was a member of the Greenup Christian Church and a former member of the M.A.C. Club.

She was preceded in death along with her parents by her husband Clarence Eastham on December 9, 1984.

She is survived by a son, Larry Keith Eastham and his wife Leona of Raceland; a daughter, Linda Kay Rawlins of Raceland; five grandsons, Darrin Thomas Rawlins, David Wayne Rawlins, John Russell Rawlins, Larry Todd Eastham and Barry Keith Eastham; and five great grandchildren, Justin Eastham, Kierston Eastham, Tessa Eastham, Kaitlin Eastham and Megan Anne Rawlins.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday July 8, 2011 at Wright’s Funeral Home in Greenup by Brother Bob Hine.

Visitation will from 6:00 till 9:00 PM Thursday July 7, 2011 at the funeral home.
